With over 25 years of Federal service, and a recipient of the 2003 Federal 100 award, Catherine Santana has delivered breakthrough results in modernizing and transforming business and project management within the U.S. government.

As Deputy Director for Project Management Systems and Assessments at the Department of Energy (DOE), Ms. Santana is responsible for developing and maintaining DOE-wide project management policies and guidance, certifying DOE contractors’Earned Value Management systems as compliant with industry standards, and coordinating External Independent Reviews of major system projects’cost baselines.

Prior to her role at DOE, Ms. Santana served as Director of the Resource Management Transformation Office at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) where she was responsible for developing a solution to transform disparate back office systems into one uniform electronic solution for the DHS.
Ms. Santana has also served the Office of the Under Secretary ofDefense as the Chief Architect for the Department of Defense Business Management Enterprise Architecture where she oversaw the development of a blueprint for a solution to manage the DoD’sfinances and ultimately unify hundreds of financial management systems.

Ms. Santana holds a bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University and a master’s degree from the University of Phoenix. In addition to devotingtime to her children and grandchildren, Ms. Santana is actively involvedin Toastmasters International.
