Nomination and Application Process
Any DOE Federal or contractor employee may submit an application. However, each management organization must review each application and affirm that:
- The validity, merit, accuracy, and consistency of the information provided,
- The accomplishment being recognized will withstand scrutiny inside and outside the Department, and
- Only one application per award category is submitted.
The following details the steps for submission:-
APPLICATION WORKSHEET
The application worksheet is a (fillable) printable version of the 2005 award application, and requires the use of Adobe Acrobat. In order to use the "Submit" button on the form, you must submit the completed form from within a Web browser (for example, Netscape Navigator or Microsoft Internet Explorer). If you try to submit the form in Adobe Reader, Adobe Reader will return the following error “Acrobat Forms: You need to be running inside a web browser in order to submit this form.” Alternatively, you can save the form to your computer and subsequently send it to John.Makepeace@hq.doe.gov as a regular e-mail attachment.
ELECTRONIC REGISTRATION
All Award applicants are required to create an electronic registration by completing the application worksheet. It is strongly recommended that you print a copy of the worksheet so that you can gather all the required information prior to submitting the form electronically. Once you have gathered all the information, complete the following steps:
An electronic confirmation of receipt will be sent to Nominee(s) Supervisor to indicate that the file has been received and is under review.
ELECTRONIC SIGNATURES
Using electronic signatures eliminates the need for users to print and sign a physical document because they can create an electronic signature that looks like a manual signature. Users also can obtain a digital certificate from a trusted Certificate Authority to help ensure authenticity. You can obtain a digital certificate from a commercial certification authority, such as VeriSign, Inc., or from your internal security administrator or Information Technology (IT) professional. Or, you can create a digital signature yourself using the Selfcert.exe tool in Microsoft Office Suite.
FINAL SUBMISSION
Final submissions must be approved by the nominee's immediate supervisor before submission to the Office of Engineering and Construction Management.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Secretarial Acquisition Executive is the awarding authority for the program. The Director, Office of Engineering and Construction Management will exercise general staff supervision over the program and will be responsible for its administration.
