DOE Logo Downloads
Electronic files of the DOE logo and the process to request permission to use the DOE logo.
If you are a contractor, an external organization to the Department, and/or want permission to use and reproduce the DOE logo outside of the HQ facilities, the Office of Administration has a concurrence system to process requests for permission to use the logo. The Director, Office of Administration (MA-40), is the Secretary’s designee for approving usage of the DOE logo, and needs a written request for permission to use the logo, along with other information.
The artwork is available in different color styles, and in several file formats. Below is a table where you can see the various color styles and download the file format you want. The file formats available, and their uses, are:
1. A high-resolution jpeg file. This is a standard file format for office software, and can be downsampled/downsized for web use. The artwork is saved at a large size at 300 dpi, and should print/reproduce at high quality.
2. A png file (Portable Network Graphics). This file can be used in most office software, including PowerPoint and Word, and allows for transparency in areas where there is no artwork, i.e. you can see the background colors.
3. The original vector-based Illustrator artwork saved with an Encapsulated Postscript (eps) header. This is a preferred file format for professional printing and publishing. Being vector-based the artwork will scale large and small and print at the maximum resolution of the output device. IMPORTANT: when downloading this file the default extension may be .ps, you need to change the extension to .eps for the file to be properly saved and useable.
Other file formats are available, such as tiff and pdf, please make an inquiry to the Graphics office listed below if you want another format.
Process to request permission to use the DOE logo
Please respond to the questions below, to request permission to use the DOE logo, and send your request to: DOE Graphics (202) 586-2732 Click this link to initiate an e-mail to Graphics, or send your e-mail request to: graphics@hq.doe.gov
It is preferred that a Federal DOE employee make the request. Please be prepared to explain that you are internal DOE entity and need to get the logo for use on publications, documents, etc. that are being produced/reproduced at HQ. You may still be asked to provide a formal written request for permission to use the logo.
Only written request will be accepted for permission to use and reproduce the DOE logo outside of HQ facilities. Please be as specific as possible so a determination can be made if this is an appropriate usage of the logo. Any mock-ups will help.
1) How will the logo be used? On a brochure; on a banner at a booth; as part of a sponsors slide show? We need to know as best as possible where and how it will be placed/used, and if possible what content it is associated with.
2) Why is it appropriate for the logo to be there? Is DOE a sponsor of the event? What is the connection between having the DOE logo and the content/conference/usage? The DOE logo is an implied or explicit endorsement of what it is associated with, why should it be endorsing this usage/event?
3) When is the conference/meeting/event? Is there any urgency in delivery of the files (if approved)? What is the desired timeframe you would like?
4) Who are you, and what is your involvement with this request? Who do we contact if we have further questions?
5) Are you interested in the logo in color or black and white? Is there a preferred file format? |
